Department of Agriculture funded Termite Bait Trials 2001

The Department of Agriculture has approved funding for the testing of stand alone termite baiting systems, headed by the Florida Pest Control Association. Dr. Nan Yo Su has been chosen as the head researcher, and Bestec Exterminators (Bart Bruni) as the Pest Control Operator to perform the actual baiting for FMC Corporation, manufacturers of First Line.

The first site had been monitored with wooden stakes and no plastic sleeves. Upon receiving hits on these monitoring stations of Eastern Subterranean Termites, Dr. Su and his associates installed bucket traps for a triple trace and re-capture experiment that is performed prior to the installation of the baiting system that's being tested.

After a successful re-capture of sites we installed 18 FMC Monitoring Stations as shown in the pictures. We are now waiting for hits on the monitoring stations to install the bait. We also are waiting for hits on five other new sites. Please check back for more updates soon.

E-mail us with any questions or comments.

The second site has produced hits on the monitoring stakes, thus a bucket trap has been installed. We are waiting for data to compile from the capture, and then we plan to proceed by placing FMC baiting system as per manufacturers label, with one exception, this study is based on stand alone protocol, and the FMC label recommends that you use a liquid treatment with Talstar.
